Chapter Eighteen The Search

Heading towards the ravine from the direction of Silver Lake, Henry, the relay station manager, and four volunteers plus the doctor are in the third day of their search.

“What do you think, Henry?” asks the doctor. “Don’t rightly know, doc. There was a lot of blood on that saddle. It could have been a mountain cat or maybe an ambush. You never know what you can meet out here.”

“Let’s hope we find him before he bleeds to death,” replies the doctor.

“Hope so, doc. Only trouble is the odds are against that being true. I sure would like to fill that saddle on the spare mount we brought along with a warm body instead of a stiff one.”
